Fox Paine scents a big profit from sale of Penhaligon’s

PENHALIGON’S, perfumier to royalty, has been put up for sale. US private eq uity

company Fox Paine is hoping to sniff out a big profit from a sell- off of its stable of luxury brands, including the 130-year-old Penhaligon’s and its skin care brand Erno Laszlo. Fox Paine is understood to want about Pounds 80 million for the businesses, which form Cradle Holdings. However, Penhaligon’s could be sold separately for as much as Pounds 40 million. The luxury perfumier and retailer is regarded as a quintessential British brand by the Americans, with stores in the smartest locations of the UK’s biggest cities
